We look to the Journal to be our conduit into the important issues of the day affecting the Foreign Service. There are a host of those at the mo- ment including the budget, the De- fense Department’s takeover of foreign affairs, and the continuing expenditure of treasure and careers on the Iraq and Afghanistan “expeditions.” The State VP should find plenty of material in those kinds of themes for his monthly column. There’s no need to provide a lecture on EERs and Supervision 101.
