He was treated to an unusual first day on the job on June 1, witnessing all-hands ballot- counting to determine the results of the 2007 AFSA Governing Board election. Mr. Mamone comes to AFSA with over 20 years of association management experience. He has servedas chief financial officer and executive director for several orga- nizations. He is a certified public accountant and a certified associ- ation executive. He is a native of the Washington, D.C., area and a graduate of GeorgetownUniversity. As executive director of AFSA, Mr.Mamoneplans to focus onmember service, strong financialman- agement and proactive outreach and communications. SusanReardon,who servedasAFSA’s executivedirector for 14years, movedon inFebruary. LegislativeAffairsDirector IanHoustonserved as interim executive director for the four months following Ms. Reardon’s departure. At its Junemeeting, theAFSAGoverningBoard commended Mr. Houston for doing an outstanding job.
