During Mr. Sanbrailo’s tenure, PADF expended more than $1 billion in project loans to improve the incomes and lives of millions of lower-income Latin Ameri- cans. After leaving PADF, Mr. Sanbrailo continued to dedicate his time to researching the history of U.S. foreign assistance efforts with the intention of amplifying his article, “Extending the American Revolution Overseas: Foreign Aid, 1789–1850,” which appeared in The Foreign Service Journal in March 2016. Mr. Sanbrailo is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cecilia, and by his sister, Lynn Sedleski of Tewksbury, Mass.
