Candidates or their representativesmayobserve theballot distributionprocess if they so desire. Each member may cast one vote for president, secretary and treasurer and, in addition, one vote for a constituency vice pres- ident and each representative position in the member’s constituen- cy. Votes may be cast by selecting candidates listed on the official ballot, by writing in the name(s) of eligible member(s), or by doing both. To be valid, a ballot must be received by May 31, 2007, at the address indicated on the envelope accompanying the ballot. More detailed balloting instructions will accompany the ballots. Vote Counting and Announcement of Results Onor about June 1, 2007, theElectionsCommitteewill count the ballots and declare elected the candidate receiving the greatest num- ber of votes for eachposition. Candidates or their representativesmay be present during the tally andmay challenge the validity of any vote or the eligibility of any voter. The committee will informcandidates individually of the election results by the swiftest possiblemeans and will publish the names of all elected candidates in the next issue of the Foreign Service Journal. The elected candidates will take office on July 15, 2007, as provided in the bylaws. Questions, Suggestions, Complaints or Challenges Any member may file a written question, suggestion or com- plaint concerning the conduct of the 2007 election. These should be addressed to “Chair, AFSA Elections Committee” and mailed or delivered to AFSA, Room 1251, Department of State, WashingtonDC 20520, or AFSA, 2101 E Street NW, Washington DC 20037, by July 2, 2007. Members may also file a written challenge to the outcome of the election.
