embassies around the world. Due to the importance of the economic and trade relationship with China, Embassy Beijing is home to the largest Foreign Commercial Service office in the world. About 100 peo- ple, including Americans and Foreign Service Nationals, work for the Foreign Commercial Service in Beijing and in the consulates in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Chengdu. The Foreign Commercial Service accounts for almost 20 percent of the total staff of the embassy and the consulates in China.
