AFSA Road Scholar Program

Start Date/Time:
Sunday, September 30, 2018 - 15:00
End Date/Time:
Sunday, September 30, 2018 - 15:00
Description:

AFSA has maintained a collaboration with the Chautauqua Institution for many years. Nestled on the western shore of Lake Chautauqua in southwestern New York state (about 15 miles from Lake Erie), the Institution's campus is a wonderful place to spend a week immersed in study. As AFSA's programs take place during the shoulder seasons immediately preceding and following the main season, the village is quiet and free of the thousands of visitors who often crowd the area during the summer months. You can read more about the history of AFSA's collaboration with Chautauqua by clicking here.

Our program at Chautauqua is titled "U.S. Foreign Policy for the 21st Century." It's a generic title for a reason: For each program, we recruit six diplomats to speak on subjects that feel current and important at each time. Generally, we try to ensure that those six speakers are able to cover the world in terms of their expertise and experience, from Latin America to East Asia and everything in between. These speakers then meet with the 150 or so participants throughout the week.

This program runs from September 30-October 5.
