Secretary of State Antony Blinken and AFSA State Vice President Tom Yazdgerdi will take part in a virtual ceremony honoring fallen colleagues, including two new names being added to the honor roll this year. The event will be broadcast virtually at 9:00 a.m. The event will be broadcast over BNET from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. EDT,  on State.gov, on the State Department’s YouTube channel, and on the Department’s Facebook page.

This year’s Foreign Affairs Day will be a virtual event and will take place on Friday, May 7, 2021, marking the 56th Anniversary of the annual celebration of our foreign affairs professionals. Please join Department retirees, domestic and overseas employees, and colleagues from all Foreign Affairs agencies to celebrate and honor our dedicated service and sacrifice.

Foreign Affairs Day will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. EDT with the plenary session featuring a keynote address by Secretary Antony J. Blinken.  Bureau of Global Talent Management Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State  Kenneth Merten will open the plenary session. Secretary Blinken will deliver remarks and American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) Vice President Thomas Yazdgerdi will preside over the AFSA Memorial Ceremony in the C Street Lobby at the Harry S Truman building.
