On Thursday March 21 at 1:00 p.m. EDT, AFSA President Tom Yazdgerdi will host a webinar with retired AFSA members. The webinar, which will be conducted via Zoom, is designed for our retirees to hear directly from Tom about AFSA’s current advocacy work on Capitol Hill and with leadership at the various Foreign Service agencies. It’s also a chance to share AFSA’s plans to commemorate the Centennial of the Foreign Service (and AFSA!).

Tom will outline the current dynamics around the International Affairs Budget and updates on final FY24 funding. He will also discuss more broadly the status of AFSA’s advocacy agenda given the thin partisan margins in each chamber of Congress. Tom will offer an overview of top policy areas being discussed with agency leadership, the status of nominations and confirmations and other topics of interest to our retired members. Finally, the webinar will include an overview of AFSA’s plans to commemorate the Foreign Service Centennial, plans for Foreign Service Day, and other upcoming programs and events.
