On Thursday October 26 at 1:00 p.m. EDT, AFSA President Tom Yazdgerdi will host a webinar with retired AFSA members. The webinar, which will be conducted via Zoom, is designed for our retirees to hear directly from Mr. Yazdgerdi about AFSA’s current advocacy work on Capitol Hill and with leadership at the various Foreign Service agencies.  

Mr. Yazdgerdi will outline the status of the International Affairs Budget in face of a potential government shutdown and a difficult fiscal environment. He will also discuss provisions included in the State Authorization Act, including one to protect the Foreign Service annuity when re-employed at the State Department. Mr. Yazdgerdi will offer an overview of topics discussed during his recent meeting with the Secretary, and the status of nominations and confirmations among other topics of interest to our retired members. Finally, there will be time to share information on AFSA’s plans for the Centennial in 2024 and other upcoming programs and events.
