AFSA Welcomes Secretary of State Marco Rubio

Washington, D.C. – The American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) welcomes the Honorable Marco Rubio as the 72nd Secretary of State of the United States. As the professional association and labor union representing America’s Foreign Service, AFSA looks forward to working with Secretary Rubio to support and strengthen the Foreign Service as a key pillar of U.S. diplomacy and national security.

The Foreign Service, a non-partisan corps of patriotic Americans who come from every state in the nation, is at the forefront of advancing America’s interests worldwide, promoting economic prosperity and democratic values. Foreign Service members are the eyes and ears of the president around the world and serve as America’s first line of defense.
